Levin, a Ukraine-born photographer, focuses on military iconography in his photo series “21, 22, 23” inspired by his experiences in the military. The artist revisits the places where he previously served as a soldier, and creates a thought-provoking series of photos as a testament to his memories and personal sensations in the army. According to Levin, as the details of the uniforms become perfectly identical, the details in the brain also begin to be similar to one another. The artist says that he was inspired by the cannons photographs by Roger Fenton in the Crimean War of 1855.
